Clay Brick Paver Information Resources Available From The Brick Industry Association

(HIT) - Genuine clay brick pavers are preferred by architects, homeowners, builders and city planners because they offer unrivaled durability and strength, a broad range of design options and low maintenance. The Brick Industry Association (BIA) provides a wealth of information on design and material selection to professionals and the public free of charge through the BIA website, www.gobrick.com/pavers.

Visitors to the BIA website will find a variety of tools to help them choose and design installations of brick pavers. These include a Paver Photo Gallery with images of unique and inspirational landscape designs, including Patriots Square in Phoenix, Arizona, and the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, Oregon. In addition, visitors will find case studies on the use of clay pavers in a number of interesting applications such as an "enabling garden" in Orlando, Florida, and the Nationwide Arena, home of the National Hockey League’s Columbus Blue Jackets in Columbus, Ohio. Past winners of BIA Brick Paving and Landscape Design Awards can be viewed as well.

Also featured on the BIA website, and available for downloading, is a presentation entitled "Building With Genuine Clay Brick Pavers" that discusses brick’s outstanding properties and uses, including compatibility with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The website also addresses the technical needs of architects and other building industry professionals. Included is a guide specification for flexible brick pavement with a sand setting bed. The guide assists in selecting appropriate products and preparing project specifications, and offers recommendations for materials and constructing pavements. Designers will welcome the recent addition of computer aided design (CAD) resources to help with the development and execution of contract drawings for details like arches, cavity walls, brick veneer, chimneys and other critical elements of outdoor building projects and designs.

The BIA website also offers a wide selection of Technical Notes for landscape professionals. Designed to meet most applicable building codes, these documents describe recommended practices for outdoor building and remodeling projects including floors, pavements and landscape features in pedestrian and vehicular applications.
