CertainTeed Unveils New Name, Look For Industry's Greenest Fiberglass Duct Liner
(HIT) - Featuring the highest recycled content in the industry, ToughGard® 2 Textile Duct Liner from CertainTeed Corporation is taking on a new name and look. Driven by customer requests, this product now features an aesthetically pleasing deep, rich black fiberglass mat and has been renamed ToughGard® T Textile Duct Liner.
Used primarily as an acoustical liner in HVAC sheet metal ducts, ToughGard T Textile Duct Liner helps improve the energy efficiency of a HVAC system by reducing heat gain or loss and minimizes moisture problems due to condensation. An ideal solution for green building projects, the liner includes 75 percent recycled content.

“CertainTeed takes pride in listening to our customers, which has resulted in making noteworthy improvements to the new ToughGard T liner,” says Ken Forsythe, Marketing Product Manager for CertainTeed’s Mechanical and Industrial Insulation group. “We found that a black fiberglass mat is one of the product features that contractors prefer and CertainTeed is pleased to respond to their request. The new black mat improves installation aesthetics but still contains the high-quality ToughGard coating and is available in a variety of sizes and densities.”
Composed primarily of long, textile-type glass fibers, ToughGard T Textile Duct Liner is a durable, abuse-resistant and easy-to-clean product. It exceeds the thermal performance of all competing duct liners with a higher R-value and an enhanced abrasion-resistant surface. Moisture that enters a duct system insulated with ToughGard T Textile Duct Liner beads up and stays beaded, allowing airflow to evaporate the moisture before it can be absorbed into the liner.
Additionally, ToughGard T is GREENGUARD® certified and contains an EPA registered antimicrobial agent to ward off potential mold and microbial growth. The duct liner is also designed to meet specifications for acoustical and LEED-certified projects and the National Association of Home Builders’ Green Building Guidelines with its recycled content and other sustainable features.
