Ikea Introduces Stockholm, A High-End Collection

Ikea Introduces Stockholm, A High-End Collection of Home Furnishings...
(HIT) - Velvet chairs, mohair throws, cowhide pouffes, fully-lined, linen curtains: the all new IKEA STOCKHOLM collection looks, feels, even smells "super expensive" at prices that are anything but.

The collection marries modern Danish design with deluxe, quality materials, all at an affordable price. The pieces stay true to the basic IKEA traditions and standards of form and function, with an elevated and edgier design sensibility. In creating this line, IKEA took extra steps to make each piece a little more special so that the furnishings look like a million bucks… but cost a lot less.

STOCKHOLM offers luxurious materials, some new for IKEA, such as soft mohair for throw pillows, natural cowhide for footstools, and organic hand-blown glass for vases to enhance the rich feel of the line. Textiles ranging from colorful nature patterns to bright geometric shapes are available in ready-made curtains or cozy velvet and cotton cushions. In addition, small touches such as down pillows, brass buckles, and touch-activated lamps complete the expensive look and feel of the line.

With the STOCKHOLM collection, furniture assembly is also at a minimum. Chairs and sofas are spacious and comfy and require no assembly. The easy-to-assemble bookcase, tables and cabinets offer great form and function consistent with the clean, simple design for which IKEA is known.

"We were inspired to develop STOCKHOLM to give an exciting new collection back to our loyal, core customers," said Janice Simonsen, IKEA design spokesperson. "They’ve grown up with IKEA, and we’ve grown up, too. STOCKHOLM is all about quality, comfort, and style with a sophisticated high-end feel. It has the expensive look discerning customers seek at prices that make them even smarter!"

To bring the vision of STOCKHOLM to life, IKEA enlisted ten top Swedish designers – the majority of whom have won the prestigious Excellent Swedish Design Award – to inject their cheerful, energetic personalities and impeccable style into the 82-piece collection. With raw talent and experience, the designers transformed the vision for STOCKHOLM into a beautiful reality.

IKEA STOCKHOLM is available now in all 29 stores across the country. For more information on the collection, visit http://www.IKEA-US.com.
