New CertainTeed ProRoc® Gypsum Board Offers Multiple Performance Attributes For High Traffic Areas Of Buildings

(HIT) - CertainTeed Gypsum now provides building professionals a multi-performance product by adding ProRoc® Extra Abuse Gypsum Board with M2Tech® to its popular gypsum board offering. Ideal for schools, hotels, health clubs and other commercial applications that are prone to high traffic, the new product protects against indentations, offers moisture and mold protection, and is fire resistant.

“This new gypsum board covers all the bases and provides three vital performance attributes in one product,” says Neil Shaw, vice president of marketing for CertainTeed Gypsum. “Many institutional and commercial projects need a fire-rated gypsum board that can tolerate the potential abuse in high-traffic areas of a building. ProRoc Extra Abuse Gypsum Board with M2Tech surpasses these expectations and provides the added benefit of moisture and mold protection.”

With a specially formulated, fire-resistant Type X noncombustible core, ProRoc Extra Abuse Gypsum Board with M2Tech is enclosed in 100 percent recycled paper that is treated to protect against mold growth. In addition, this combination offers greater resistance to abuse in busier areas of a building than regular gypsum board. It has achieved GREENGUARD® Children & SchoolsSM Certification and contributes to LEED® credits in green building design projects.

ProRoc Extra Abuse Gypsum Board with M2Tech is UL Classified for fire resistance and surface burning characteristics. It also achieved the best scores possible for mold resistance per ASTM G21 and ASTM D 3273. ProRoc gypsum boards are lightweight and easy to cut and install over steel or wood framing. They do not require special tools and may be finished, painted, textured or wallpapered using conventional gypsum board techniques.
