Which White Is Right: Home Decorating Trends
(HIT) - Two prominent kitchen and bath manufacturers note the resurgence of white in home interior decorating trends with the introduction of new whites to their product lines.
American Standard, the worlds largest manufacturer of plumbing fixtures and faucets, expanded its color offering to include two new whitesfor a total of fourwhile Wilsonart, a decorative laminate producer, announced the addition of four whites to its linebringing its total to nine.
"Whites offer a clean canvas for consumers who want to infuse their individual personality using texture or accessories," said David Embry, Design Director of Wilsonart.
All whites are not created equally however, which is why American Standard and Wilsonart are offering a total of 13 different tones or shades of white. "Layering whites adds texture and enhances the drama of a room. Bright whites are inviting and friendly," according to Gary Uhl, Group Design Manager, American Standard.
Indeed, different rooms call for different tonal qualities. Rooms with abundant sources of natural light call for crisp, bright whites, while rooms that rely on reflective light need softer, creamier tones of white.
White Is One Home Decorating Trend That's Here To Stay
Whites long-time popularity as a decorating trend is due, in part, to the many ancillary qualities it brings to a room, the least of which is visually expanding small spaces. "Whites timeless appeal is in step with todays back-to-basics philosophy,." notes David Embry.
While consumers find white an easy color to design around, they are often surprised to discover how difficult it is to find whites that match. With the introduction of nine new whites, WilsonArt and American Standard expect to make coordination with other home products like tile, appliances and flooring easier.
In addition to American Standards White and White Heat, the companys line also includes Warm White, a mellow white, and Euro White a crisp white with a slight blue cast.
Wilsonarts offering of White, Designer White, Frosty White, White Sand and Antique White will be joined by the new hues of Snowdrift, Linen, Polar and Alabaster. The tonal qualities inherent in Wilsonarts whites run from the crisp qualities of White to the softer, aged feeling of Antique White.
