Horticultural Oil Suffocates And Repels Insects Without Dangerous Chemicals

(HIT)-Horticultural oils have been used for years to control insect pests and mites on dormant trees and woody ornamental shrubs. With the introduction of new, lighter-weight horticultural oils, homeowners and gardeners can now use horticultural spray oils to kill and repel insects on virtually all types of plants throughout the year.

Unlike many other pesticides that kill insects with toxic chemicals, horticultural oil literally smothers insects to death. The oil spray blocks an insect's air holes (called spiracles) through which the insect breathes, causing it to die from asphyxiation.
