Join The Campaign To Lower Energy Use At Home
(HIT) - Join the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) in their seventh annual campaign to lower greenhouse gas emissions. The campaign encourages citizens across the country to replace existing incandescent light bulbs with energy efficient compact fluorescent bulbs. According to campaign representatives, replacing one incandescent light bulb with an equivalent watt compact fluorescent bulb can save an average of $30 or more in energy costs over its lifetime, while preventing more than 450 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions.
The "Change a Light, Change the World" campaign is designed to increase consumer awareness about the positive impact that we can achieve with even modest changes in our approach to energy use. To participate, all you have to do is pledge to replace at least one incandescent bulb or fixture with one that has earned the governments Energy Star for efficiency. Last years effort is estimated to have saved more than $2 million dollars and to have prevented more than 33 million pounds of greenhouse gas emissions.
