Control Mosquitoes Before They Bite With Mosquito Dunks

(HIT) - As the weather warms up, mosquitoes become an annoying part of the outdoor landscape. Homeowners looking for a safe, nontoxic way to control pesky, disease-spreading mosquitoes can use Mosquito Dunks, which contain a biological larvacide called B.t.i. (Bacillus thuringiensis subspecies israelensis). B.t.i. is a bacterium that’s deadly to mosquito larvae but harmless to other living things. Just float a biodegradable Mosquito Dunk in ponds, birdbaths or wherever water collects.

Mosquito Dunks won’t harm animals and wildlife, so they are approved for use in fish habitats and animal watering troughs. When female mosquitoes lay their eggs in water treated with a Mosquito Dunk, the B.t.i. will kill the mosquito larvae before they can grow up to become biting adults.

A six-pack of Mosquito Dunks sells for about $10.99 at home centers, hardware stores and garden centers. For more information visit www.summitchemical.com.
