Paint Chip Repair System: A Painter's Best Friend Since The Drop Cloth
(HIT) - It happens almost every day in homes across the country, and can strike in a variety of ways. Mom carrying groceries in from the garage, a teenager with an over-sized gym bag rushing down a narrow hallway, someone kicking off a pair of shoes in the entry way or their bedroom.
These are examples of how scuff marks, nicks and paint chips damage painted surfacesan annoying household phenomena that shows no signs of slowing.
But now there's help.
Rubbermaid has been hard at work developing a paint chip repair product to address these paint touch-up issues and a solution has finally arrived in the new Paint Buddy Touch-Up Tool. Paint Buddy allows people to store paint for fast and easy paint chip repair on painted walls without the hassle of having to search for the right paint, prying off the rusty paint can lid, stirring and dealing with the drips and mess normally associated with a touch-up job.
"People would rather live with the scuff marks and nicks than tackle a messy, time-intensive paint chip repair project," said Mitch Clark, a marketing director in the Rubbermaid paint division. "We know painting is the No. one home improvement project people hire for or attempt to handle on their own. The time invested in selecting a color and the detailed workmanship make painting very personaland people want it to look great every day. That's why we developed the Paint Buddy paint chip repair system."
A recent study by Rubbermaid and Ipsos of 1,000 Americans found that 60 percent of respondents have between 2-and-10 cans of paint stored in their basement or garage. This leftover paint is kept year-after-year to handle small touch-up jobs and paint chip repairs, but 70 percent of those surveyed say they are touching up scuff marks and nicks on painted surfaces in their homes just onceif even thatper year. The main reasons people avoid this dreaded household task are: (1) paint chip repair jobs make a mess and (2) it's next to impossible to match the color.
Here's how it works
Simply fill Paint Buddy with the room's paint color and it's always available to cover scuffs, nicks and marks. The air lock valve opens to let paint flow onto the all-surface blending roller with a squeeze. The roller's special flocking blends the paint so there are no brush marks to show the touch-up. When finished, simply close the air lock valve, wash or toss the roller and give Paint Buddy a quick rinse under warm water. Replace the roller and Clean Keeper lid and Paint Buddy stores the paint to touch up life's little accidents as they happen.
Paint Buddy is available at retail stores across the U.S. for around $11.
