CMI Unveils 8-Foot Tall Two-Panel Plank Interior Door

New Tall Door Reflects Strength, Simplicity and Security of Castle Construction

(HIT) - Following the fall 2008 roll-out of its CraftMaster® Cashal™ in standard, 6’8" and 7-foot heights, CMI unveiled an 8-foot-tall version of the arched top, two-panel plank interior door at the 2009 International Builders Show in Las Vegas January 20-23.

CraftMaster Cashal boosts a graceful top curve, distinctive grooves and an elegant smooth finish that combine elements of historical door design with modern functionality, making it well-suited for many home styles and décor.

The Cashal name is derived from an old city (Cashel) in County Tipperary, Ireland, where its original meaning was "castle." Traditionally, many castle doors featured arched tops and some were created as two functional panels.

"Adding another tall door design to our CraftMaster Interior Door line gives home builders more options to meet the diverse needs of today’s homeowners," said Bob Merrill, CMI president and CEO. "Homes with higher ceilings is a trend that began a few years ago and remains popular, so the new 8-foot Cashal door is yet another way to add charm and character to any room."

Merrill added, "The arched top, two-panel door design reflects the strength, simplicity and security of castle construction from centuries ago. While the general door style has a long and rich history of use in homes and buildings worldwide, what makes the CraftMaster Cashal so appealing to today’s homeowners, builders and remodelers are the contemporary design features from its updated groove, new profile and ready-to-paint smooth finish."

Cashal is available in passage widths from 1’6" to 3’0" in either hollow core or solid core construction, and with finger-joint or MDF stiles and rails. Bifolds are available for most standard openings from 2’0" to 6’0".

Like all CraftMaster Interior Doors, Cashal is made from molded, high-density fiberboard to resist shrinking, cracking and joint separation, and it is covered by a five-year limited warranty.

CraftMaster molded door designs have received Scientific Certification Systems’ (SCS) certification for key green building elements. SCS certified CraftMaster molded door designs have no added urea formaldehyde and contain a minimum of 63 percent by weight, pre-consumer recycled content. Also, CraftMaster molded interior doors have a minimum of 50 percent by weight pre-consumer recycled content based on a standard door construction.
