Residing With Vinyl Siding Products
(HIT) - Exterior home remodeling projects are a wise investment for those who wish to update a homes look and enhance its curb appeal. Many prudent homeowners are considering residing their homes with vinyl siding due to its durability, easy care, great looks and high return on investment. Yet older homes can pose an aesthetic problem for vinyl siding installations because they can have wavy, uneven walls which sometimes give ordinary vinyl siding panels a warped look. In addition, gaps at the overlaps can form when residing, creating a less uniform look.
Wolverine Technologies, a leading manufacturer of vinyl building products, was the first company to address this problem by designing a new, rigid vinyl siding panel with 200 percent more lateral stiffness than standard panels to lessen the flex and increase the panels ability to "straighten out" a wavy substrate, according to Walter A. Hoyt, director of marketing, Wolverine.
Called Benchmark, this vinyl siding product is structurally-reinforced with a high-density fiberglass tube inserted along the top edge of the panel which provides a smoother, straighter wall. Benchmark installers discovered when the fiberglass tube is pushed from one panel across the overlap and into the other panel during installation, the overlaps lie even flatter. This unique feature called LapLock, works like a dead bolt for a stronger, more secure installation, according to Hoyt.
"Benchmark offers other aesthetic advantages as well," says Hoyt. "It features a low-gloss finish for a look of freshly painted wood and a rough-sawn, natural-looking cedar grain unlike the artificial "graining" found on ordinary vinyl sidings."
To provide greater vinyl residing flexibility, Benchmark is compatible with Wolverines Exterior Design System, a total systems approach to exterior finishes, which allows homeowners to combine trim elements, textures and coordinating colors with vinyl siding and accessories, including decorative shapes and corner posts.
Benchmark vinyl siding is available in clapboard profiles of double 4" and double 5" and a 4-1/2" dutchlap. It comes in 12 popular home colors including snow, champagne, sand and pewter, to name a few. Like all Wolverine vinyl siding products and accessories, Benchmarks finish will not chip, dent, crack or warp. And unlike wood, your vinyl residing efforts never need painting and will not show scratches.
According to Hoyt, the industrys first structurally-reinforced vinyl siding comes with a limited, lifetime warranty contingent upon proper installation.
